Chinese Ambassador Ren Yisheng Meets President of United Methodist University Alumni Association of Liberia

On September 22, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia H.E. Ren Yisheng met with Mr. Dioh C. PodeeBodi, President of United Methodist University Alumni Association of Liberia and exchanged views on friendly and pragmatic cooperation between the two sides. 

Ambassador Ren elaborated that over the past century, the Communist Party of China (CPC) has united and led the people of all ethnic groups in the country to achieve the first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way, solved  the problem of absolute poverty historically, started a new journey of the second centenary goal of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way and will hold the 20th National Congress of the CPC in the second half of the year. He introduced the outcome of mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation between China and Liberia under the framework of the “Belt and Road Initiative” and the “Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development”, and said that the cooperation projects between China and Liberia in the fields of economy and trade, health, infrastructure construction, food security and human resource development are being carried out in an orderly manner. Ambassador Ren pointed out that people-to-people and cultural exchanges are an important means to deepen the understanding and friendship between the two countries. In recent years, China has gradually expanded the scope of scholarship benefits, and many students studying in China have played important roles in national development after returning to Liberia. He expressed that China is willing to work with Liberia to strengthen pragmatic cooperation in education, people-to-people and cultural exchanges and other fields, and to continuously advance the building of a community with a shared future between China and Liberia.

Mr. PodeeBodi thanked China for its long-term contribution to the economic and social development of Liberia, expressed that Liberia is willing to learn from China's successful development experience and strengthen bilateral cooperation in education and people-to-people and cultural exchanges and hoped that the Chinese side will support the development needs of United Methodist University in terms of lecturers training and infrastructure construction.

Ambassador Ren presented the English version of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" to Mr. PodeeBodi.
